IMHO, the only place worse than China for non-quality manufacturing is India. The reason I returned this item was not because it was defective but because it was made in some third world country ...and I, for one, am sick and tired of sending my hard earned cash to a supposed US company that makes their products by exploiting the third world. The tool itself is not at all finished well, has an overall coarse feel and look to it and does not inspire confidence as to its accuracy. If all you care about is CHEAP, well then this little tool will send tickles up your spine. If you'd like to support a return to American manufacturing then bypass this tawdry piece. I was able to find (on everybody's favorite auction site) a new, dead stock tool of much better quality (made in the USA) and for less money. In fact you'd be better off searching the web for sites specializing in dead stock/used/older tools from an age (not too long ago) where we used to make some of the best tools in the world.
